Classes

           Junior Classes

 

These classes aim to develop awareness, motor skills, balance, strength and flexibility in a fun and safe environment.

 

Through a mix of traditional karate and dynamic martial arts-based activities, children learn to channel their energy while building self confidence and self discipline.

Classes are open to ages 5-9 years. There are two children's classes available giving you the option of training once or twice per week.

Tuesdays and Thursdays

4-5pm

           Senior Classes

These classes are designed to develop fitness, core strength and flexibility while following the traditional Gōjū-ryū Ryu Karate-do Pathway. 

 

Students strive towards learning the foundations necessary to deveolp effective self-defence techniques using a range of blocks, counter strikes and body evasion manoeuvers.

Classes are open to ages 10 years and above.

           Kumite and Tournament Training

These classes are designed to develop fighting techniques for both self-defence and competition, including striking, blocking and body evasion.

Classes are open to students of all ages who have achieved the minimum rank of 9th Kyū yellow belt.

5:15- 5:45pm

           Advanced Training

These classes develop advanced application of techniques (bunkai), advanced kata and Gōjū-ryū randori. 

 

They are designed as an additional class for high ranking students, complementing the senior classes.

Classes are open to senior students who have achieved the minimum rank of 3rd Kyū, brown belt.

         Informal Fitness and Self-defence Classes (Adults only)

 

These informal classes are aimed at adults who wish to reap some of the benefits of martial arts training without the formality of traditional karate. Classes are split into equal parts fitness and self-defence.

 

In the self-defence component, participants focus on developing simple but effective defensive strategies which can be used against potential aggressors. This includes basic strikes and blocks, as well as escape manoeuvers and situational awareness.

 

In the fitness component, we strive to improve fitness and flexibility through cardio training and extensive stretching sessions.

 

Classes are open to adults only and designed for beginners with no martial arts knowledge. There are no fitness requirements.
